'Please take it off!'

An amusing feature of the dear old Melody Maker was ‘Blind Date’. Hip cats were given a pile of the week’s new releases (or 'sounds') to listen to and asked to pass judgement, without being told what they were listening to. Sandy Denny submitted to this upmarket Juke Box Jury in February 1970. Johnny Cash and June Carter proved too much for her.

Very amusing!

BTW - Doesn't Art Garfunkel sing the whole of Bridge Over Troubled Water? : - )

She was also on BBC Radio 1's "Round Table" in March 1974 as part of a panel reviewing new sounds. Is this in the archives still?

Wow. I had never seen that before. Very, very interesting to hear Sandy's critiques. The lady had a strong opinion and was always brutally honest. Thank you for posting!

yes, art garfunkel does sing the whole of BOTW. it's a surprising mistake given their voices are quite distinct.

paul simon toured in britain in about 1965(?) just before sounds of silence hit the charts.
